Is it possible to merge cells on a shared workbook, i've spent days creating a lovely macro that does this and changes the cells color, but i keep getting an error.....

Merge Cells on a shared excel workbook

According to the Excel Help, you cannot merge cells in a workbook that is shared. You can only view cells that were merged prior to sharing. If you need to merge cells, you must do so before sharing or remove the workbook from shared use.
