Meridian Mail RLS 13, can the Tools menu be different than the System Admin password? Or does any systems not have the Tools menu. I ask because I just had a customer that wanted me to look at their Mail and tell them what options they have on it. Well I tried to log into the Tools menu and it says incorrect password. I can log into the System menu using the same password.

i think on 13 they can be different.

there was a default pass for tools, but i don't remember if that is forced to change upon install.....

I've also got a Meridian Mail 13 Entopia system that I can't log onto the Tools Menu with and I've already reset the "System" password via the mail install tape.

I couldn't find anywhere within the system menus that allows you to change the Tools password. Is there a higher level that you have to get at to be able to change it?.

Do you have the RSC or ETAS logins (factory hard-code)? I believe from there, you can change the tools password. I can't remember though; I don't have an MM13 I can get into right this second.

Yes I do have them (and more) but I'm after the prompts in order to carry out the change. The reason is that the Mail 13 is my spare one and I want to obtain the keycodes from the tools menu as I don't know what site ID it came from.

If you do have anything, then can you kindly contact me off line please?.

you change the tools password on install or rls 13. i want to say you could not make it the same, but that box wasn't that advanced.. you can use a install tape and a partial backup tape to recover the pwd..

To change the tools pwd you need to know the system pwd.

login as etas - (whatever the etas login and pwd is for that release of MM) you'll be prompted for the system pwd if you were successful with the etas login/pwd.

If you were successful, you'll see something like this:

Special Tools Package
ETAS Level Access

1 Change password - Change ETAS/RSC/TOOLS/Admin pwd
2 ad_util - Administration Utility
3 burp - Backup & Restore Program

JP / Firebird - it's option #1 on the ETAS support tools menu. You need the factory hard-coded ETAS / CTS password, and your existing system admin password.

Firebird - check your 'offline' ;-)
