Does anyone have any idea of what can cause memory to go bad.
ex: I installed a 128 sdram pc133 8 months ago along side the 128 that was already there. the original chip is still find but have errors on the new...
i guess my question is i understand faulty memory but usually they dont last 8 months then crap out, so is there anything that someone knows of that could cause this hardware wise?

Well, static can fry memory though it's never happened to me(knock on wood). Overclocking the frontside buss could do it in as well. Flakey power supplies can fry all kinds of components. It's possible also that the slot the mem goes in has gone bad and the memory itself is still good. Did you try the "bad" ram by itself in the slot the good ram is in? Was it the cheapest ram you could get? Sometimes it pays to buy quality.... If you're going through Hell...keep going... (Winston Churchill)
