I have spent the past few weeks juggling my init.ora files to try to increase performance of our Oracle DB while leaving some memory for AIX to function!
Based on the system spec:
8Gb memory
18Gb pagefile
4 ERP databases (1 live, 3 clones for testing) about 21 GB total datafile size each
1 small EDI database used infrequently
1 small Export Documentation database used infrequently
The live database typically has about 500 users, the test systems go through phases, one will reach about 100 during peak training, another will reach about 10 users and the last will be one or two persons.
Currently, my LIVE ERP database has been spoiled, to get it to be as fast as I can since it suffers performance degradation most of the time.
Right now it has…
Users: 373, 3 active
CPU usage: 91%
Memory: 43Mb free
PGA Target: 60Mb
Used: 1.03Gb
SGA current size: 2.10Gb
Buffer cache: 960Mb
Redo Buffer: 1.75Mb
Shared Pool: 768Mb
Java Pool: 32Mb
Large Pool: 288Mb
For one database, 2.1Gb of SGA seems a lot, is it fair, since it’s the main use of the AIX server?
Thanks for any leads, advice or suggestions.
