We've been having problems with VFP 5 and memo fields becoming corrupt. Does anyone know if Microsoft eliminated the memo corruption problem in VFP 7? I looked at the knowledge base and it appears that way.

I've got a few apps sitting in VFP 5 still and don't get memo corruption... unless:

1) There is a power failure
2) The user creates a power failure (big red switch)
3) The hardware fails, hard disk corruption or whatnot

Does one of these cause your problem?

Actually, we have 150 sites. At each site, about three times a year we have 30 or so users entering information into a table with memo fields.

Only 1 or 2 of the sites will have problems, but it's still a pain to connect up to there site, delete the record with a chr(0) in the memo field and rebuild the memo file.

So I'm just wondering if VFP 7 is more stable.

Thanks

I'm with Rick.

But, if you've identified the problem to such a degree - and know the reslution - can you not write a little utility to delete the record with a chr(0) in the memo field and rebuild the memo file.

That should be easy enough.
