Hi,

I have yet to find how to allow a user to change the access code for a meet-me conference. I have a fac set up but what do I key in once I dial the fac and get a dial tone? The VDN of the meet-me conference? Just the access code?

Thanks.

From the features description and adimin manual:

Changing a Meet-me Conference access code
Both local and remote access telephone users can change access codes. However, an access
code must first be administered through system administration before a telephone user can
change a code. Access codes must be removed through system administration.
To change a Meet-me Conference access code:
1. Dial the Feature Access Code (FAC) for Meet-me Conference.
2. When you hear dial tone, dial the Meet-me Conference VDN, and then press the pound key
(#).
3. Dial the current access code, and then press the pound key (#).
4. When you hear dial tone, dial the new access code, and then press the pound key (#).
5. Dial the new access code again, and then press the pound key (#).
6. When you hear the confirmation tone, hang up the telephone.
If any errors occur during this operation, you hear intercept tone, and the access code is not
changed. You must start over.

I thought it would be something like that but I do not get a dial tone when I dial the VDN then press pound. I can get a dial tone if I press the * key instead but it still doesn't seem to work. I have already assigned it an access code and I am the controlling extension. What else could I be missing?

Does your station also have console perimissions? It's suppposed to work as long as you are the controlling extension, or you have console permissions. Maybe having both will do the trick.

on a related note, maybe you are not supposed to get dialtone where you think you should. For example there is another FAC for putting messages on the display that there are a few steps that dont have dialtone inbetween like you think they should. The above directions dont mention DT after the VDN# step.

Yes, I do have console permissions also. I did try going through everything even without dial tone but I shall try again.

Thanks for the help.

Ok, here's the trick for making this happen:
dial FAC (get DT)
Dial VDN press # (No DT)
Dial access code press # (DT)
Dial new access code press # (DT)
Dial new access code again press # (confirmation tone)

Thanks to RTMCKEE for leading me down the right path. I could not find those instructions anywhere (still haven't) while looking on Avaya's support site.

By the way, I tried it with and without console permissions and it worked both ways so I think as long as you are the administrating extension it should work fine.

Now I see that there is a FAQ that shows these directions. It would be great if the FAQ's were returned as part of a search.

Here is a link i posted that has the feature description and implemenation guide. It is for 2.2, but it is still mostly relivant for older revs also. This is by far the most helpful (general) doc I've found on thier website.

FYI.. this doc is where i got the above posted intructions from.

Thanks. That's a keeper. I searched and searched yesterday but this one did not come up. I don't know if I'm the only one but I get really frustrated sometimes with their website. It's much easier to find help here on tek-tips.
