Hello,

i'm having some problems getting the HP MSL 5000 (5026SL) to work on NetBackup v4.5 BusinesServer MP8. Have upgraded all firmware on my Compaq Proliant 360 server. The robot picks the SDLT tape and puts it in the drive, but writing never starts. I just get "media write error (84)".
I'm running it on a HP SmartArray 5302-64 controller.
OS is WindowsNT4 (I know that could be the problem, but I have no choice). Think I have tried everything I know now and all updates from Veritas is installed.

Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?

I might add that the only software upgrade option I got is to upgrade NetBackup to 5.1, but does anyone think that will help?

If a tape is put in the drive than the netbackup/library interface is working, your problem would seem to be in the datapath. I would look at simple things first tape/drive/controler, basicly hardware issues. Replace each untill it works.

I solved it. Turned out we didn't have SDLT tapes in the robot, just normal DLT tapes. The drive didn't like that.

Oh well, can't figure out everything....doh!
