S8300 is really a nice little machine with all the Definity features you could wish for and not too expensive either (for Avaya standards)! I don't know what kind of info you're looking for, but let me know and I'll try to answer. We're working with an S8300 V1.3 with embedded Intuity Audix LX, embedded announcement board, embedded CLAN, embedded IPMEDPRO, EAS & Vectoring and the whole ECS-offer shabang!
Do you have an idea as to the cost per seat for this 8300 system? Even a rough idea by dividing the total system cost by the number of active stations and giving us the number of ACD agents would be helpful.
Actually I couldn't give you the price per seat even if I wanted to... I'd say just call your Avaya-dealer. I think they'd be more than happy to give you an offer.
Sorry, but pricing is always a bit tricky and prices differ per country, dealer and continent....
You don't want an S8100. Its just an IP666/DefOne with CM 1.1-1.3 on it. I hated that line of product when it came out 3 or 4 years ago as 9.2 and still hate it now. I think the S8300/G700 is a great product. I just installed an S8700 with some S8300 LSPs off of it. Nice products. I say go S8300.
BTW, have you looked at the S8500? Avaya is going to have a big push this year to get as many customers from SI to S8500.
Everything is going to the media servers, traditional processors are no more in the newer releases.. S8500 brings that server processing down to the lower end, such as the CSI carriers.
As for PBXTech, i agree IP600/S8100 is total trash IMO..
I just did a S8300/G700 with LSP in the same stack. That was pretty slick.. Some head honcho of a company wanted this at his house, hehe..
Can't complain on the S8300/S8700's at all yet.. Other than AVAYA themselves don't know how to work on them..
I don't know how many times we've had S8300/S8700's, and they had to get dispatched, and the AVAYA techs call us, WTF!!!!
but I guess AVAYA is hindered alot though from their techs organization that they belong time (not to start any flames) but we know what I'm talking about..
You'll get no flames from me. I have to work around too many techs that are 'ethernet challenged'. Very upsetting that they would rather change handset curly cords than put in an S8300/G700 with IP Phones and 3600 wi-fi phones. Guess I'm one of the select few who give a damn in my office.
Buckweet, are you really a former Exp@nets tech? Well let be the first to say welcome to Avaya LLC. You may not be Avaya Inc yet, but maybe someday you'll get the full deal.
Well, I'm AVAYA LLC and I'm being held on and going to be one of the last 3 AVAYA LLC people (so they're telling me) AVAYA isn't keeping any services personnel, just sales staff. Its rather sad.. Got about 2 months to go and that'll be all she wrote.. Oh well.. Guess its time to go find a AVAYA or Cisco shop to work in, thats what I loved about Exp@nets, I got to install both AVAYA and Cisco products, best of both worlds.. Not anymore though..
Buckweet,
You should look into working out at the TSO in Denver. I hear they need some people out there. Saw an email about it. Now that you have become Avaya, you should be able to take a look at internal job postings.
But with your skill set I imagine you will be working as quickly as you want to. Their is a distinct shortage of really good VOIP engineers. Especially those who can dance in both Avaya and Cisco.
There are a number of positions that pop up around here in the Atlanta area. I am happily employed however I keep my eyes open and I have noticed quite a few lately for thosed versed in VOIP and specifically those of us who can work comfortably in Cisco as well as Avaya.
If you are considering relocating I will pass on a few leads via email from this are. Let me know.
