Media Retensioning in Veritas Backup Exec

Hi,

I am not sure when and how frequent i should perform media retensioning in backup exec. Is Media Retensioning necessary for every new tape before performing any backup on it?

How frequent should I use cleaning catridge for my tape drive? Your advice will be much appreciated.
