Recently we upgraded on of our backup drive to an ADIC Fastor DLT 8000. The server is running NT 4.0 and BU Exec version 8.0.
I found some information on the Veritas site explaining additional features to the Media Request Timeout registry hack new in version 8.0. You can add additional timeouts for specific situations such as media request or overwrite. I have them in place along with the Media request timeout hack.
My problem is that when the tapes are in a media set that is write protected for a specific period of time. Then an operator misses changing them, how can I get the program to timeout so that we are alerted that evening instead of the next morning when it is too late to get a succussful backup.
I thought that these hacks that I located would resolve the issue, but testing has proven otherwise.
Thanks for your suggestions.
