Anyone know of a fix to this:

When I play a movie in windows media player, after i close media player, explorer keeps utilizing nearly all of my cpu time and an incredible amount of memory. anyone know of the cause and/or solution to this. Thanks in advance.

Windows XP has problems dealing with avi files where the index is corrupt. These avi files may not appear to be problematic, however you are unable to delete these files and they also cause XP to go into a loop. Try deleting the following key from the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32

This will prevent Explorer from loading shmedia.dll in response to file property queries on these files.
