Media Label

I would like the media label to be erased at start of backup so that the label changes to the date of the backup.

Is there a way to have this done automatically or will I have to do this manually?

use a GFS rotation scheme, this will update the backup date automatically.
An alternative is to use the command line utility ca_devmgr to erase the tape and have it run 5 minutes before the backup starts through the 'job scheduler wizard'
