Measuring Traffic from one host to another.

Hello, I have a Linux machine connecting to a database
frequently. I'm trying to determine how much traffic
on average is transferred between the Webserver and the Database. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might
accomplish this?
Both hosts are on the same network connected via a Catalyst 4006 Switch.
