I have a Laptop that was manufactured in Germany; therefore it has a German keyboard...

It’s a Compaq Presario 850Mhz, with a Bay Swap for my DVD drive and floppy. I’m currently running WinME but it’s too unstable, and the OS is also in german.

Can I install Windows XP on that laptop or will I run into problems? I would obviously need the drivers for the DVD-Floppy swap and for the Synapse Touch pad, is there anything else?

The HD would have to be re-formatted into NTFS, will the WinXP install do that or do I have to do it manually?

Thanks for the help,

Victor

If you already have the cd you can start the install and it will do a compatability search before it actually upgrades the os. It will tell you what hardware and software is incompatible and what you need to do to get them compatible. This way you can check to make sure everything works before you take the plunge. You can also do the compatability check from Microsoft's website.

Thank You, Can I use a WindowsXP setup CD or do I need a Upgarde, to upgarde to XP from ME without acomplete re-install or can I do either one?
