help,
While experimenting with Access security, I accidentilly "joined" myself to an existing .MDW file. Now whenever I open ANY access file on my computer, I'm being prompted for a password. The mdw file is located on my server. How do I "unjoin" a mdw file? I also tried to replace the system.mdw file on my computer, but I'm still being asked for the password. Am I screwed or is there still hope?

Use the Access Work Group Administrator (Wrkgadm.exe) program to Join another MDW file. The program should be in a folder under the Office installation. Terry

Didn't work. I even replaced the system.mdw file and joined the new one. The results are the same. I am still being asked to login by the "other" mdw file.

If you've joined a system.mdw file then there are only a few reasons why Access would continue to request a password.

[ol][li]The current system.mdw requires a password. Are you sure it doesn't? Have you tried clearing the password after logging in?
[li]Command line options are included on the shortcut used to start Access. What's on the command line of the shortcut you use to start Access? Does it contain a /wrkgrp option or perhaps a /user option?
[li]Access remembers the last login. Try changing the login to admin with no passowrd. If you get in, exit and restart Access. See if the "problem" has cleared.[/ol] Terry
