Hi,

What is the difference between a .mde database and a .mdb database. Sorry for the ignorance.

Jeremy

MDE database is a self-contained, executable database. Per M$, all readable has been removed, you can not access deign views (tables, forms, etc). MDE is considered a great way to secure a database, and protect your code.

The dis-advantage (which is the advantage) is that MDE can not be edited by the developer. So, you have to ensure your forms, reports, design are rock solid and complete with compaction tools, archiving tools, etc.

MDB is the typical database file. You can design, edit, tweak and use.

Unless you are an expert, consider enhancing your skills before moving to compiling your application. (And if you do, make sure you have backups).

Richard

MDE files are fully compiled. They are not executable; this implies they can be run without MS Access, which they can't.

Ed.

Please do not feed the trolls.....
