Hi All,

I have W2K Advaced Server 2-node cluster (HP hardware LC2000R with HP RackStore 12 shared RAID) running an app and a single small SQLServer 2000 Enterprise instance.

I'm trying to think of any way to back the system up using a single external DAT device, and am failing.

Using built in functionality I have ntbackup & SQLServer built-in backup, but would still potentially have to physically move the tape device to do a restore. The SQLServer backup is not too much of an issue, it's the filesystem that I'm struggling on.

Any ideas, or am I hardware/software bound ?

TIA Ian

"IF" is not a word it's a way of life

As you are saying, the databse should not be aproblem, since it is on the shared device.
For the OS, indeed you have to make backup to both nodes independetly.
Take care with backup. There is a special procedure for backing up/restore the quorum log (the hive from registry).
See: clustrest.exe, and regback.exe from Res.Kit.
