Does anyone know what's the maximum number of rows that can be displayed for smooth scrolling in a combo box(CB)? I have an application in which I want to display a list of all the companies my organisation ( ~18,000) deals with. I have associated a query with the CB and when I run the query in the standard way the full list appears within an acceptable time period. However, when shown within the CB only the first 100 or so display. If my user knows the name of the firm and types it in, the name appears but this isn't good enough. I could set up another field in which the user enters the first 3 chars of the name and then I use this as a parameter for the query but that's the fallback position which I don't want to use yet. Any ideas, please?

In fact show 18.000 records in a combo box is not a good idea.
I've also had this problem and I solved it placing a text box simulatin the text part of the combo and a combo box near it and reduced in order to show only the arrow.
The user can write the all name, only a part, or what he want and on afterupdate I filter the combo and I open it showing only the records that match the filter. If there's only one record the combo doesn't open and the value is taken automatically.
I think that your user will be more happy than have to opening a 18.000 lines long combo. :p
