Now I have heard that windows xp professional limits concurrent connection to a maximum of 10

So suppose if on A LAN, I run a proxy server on a win xp pro computer then does that mean that only 10 concurrent connections can be made via the proxy server to the internt ?

If so why do many software creators like winproxy or wingate have unlimited versions when win xp pro itself can allow only 10 concurrent connections ?

XP limits File and Printer sharing sessions to 10.
A proxy server does not use F&PS sessions.
"The connection limit refers to the number of redirector-based connections and is enforced for any file, print, named pipe, or mail slot session. The TCP connection limit is not enforced, but it may be bound by legal agreement to not permit more than 10 clients."

There are registry edits that can influence the number of simultaneous TCP connections under XP, and that can influence Service Pack 2 queuing behavior. Your proxy software will make the adjustments for you.
