Deploying CE10 in a test environment. Whenever I navigate between folders, reports, etc I get the following error message (without completing the task).

"maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout."

Can anyone advise where this change is to be made?

Synopsis

When attempting to view an Infoset report using the web desktop in Crystal Enterprise 10 Enhanced SAP Edition, the following error message appears:

"The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout."

When you click the 'Show/Hide Group Tree' button on the viewer, the error message disappears but the report then appears as expected.

Why does this error message appear, and how can you resolve it?

Solution

This error message appears because the time that the report requires to process exceeds the script timeout.

To resolve this error message:

1. Set the value of the following registry entries to "720" (This value is in seconds. You may wish to experiment with other values):

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crystal Decisions\10\Web Component Server\Components\csp\scripttimeout

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crystal Decisions\10\Web Component Server\Instances\Machine Name\Components\csp\scripttimeout

2. Restart the Web Component Server.

We found this can be overcome by upgrading the MSDE to SP4
