Does anyone know how many parallel ports can be installed in a PC?

3.

Unless you're using USB to parallel adapters.

Just my 2¢

The original PC specs were for 3 , a primary, a secondary, and one on a video/printer I/O card.
There were IRQs set for the 2 resident ports.
I would suspect that the limit has been raised. I've heard 6 using PCI parallel ports but that is rumor only as I've not checked it out.
This is going to be OS dependent in any case.

Thanks for the info

The consensus seems to be 3

EdFair when you say OS dependent do you think that WIN2K
could use more than WIN98SE?

I would suspect so. But you really need to dig into the OS specs to find out.
I've never had to worry about more than 3, and that on UNIX systems. I've had 2 on DOS based equipment.
