For NT 4.0 RAS server i have two 6 port Rocket modems and want to have my VPN folks to use my RAS server also. So i have 12 com ports in use for the modems and want to set up an extra 5 vpn ports. Well it only lets me set up one vpn port. When i go into net properties to pptp protocol and configure it for more than one VPN port i still get only one port. Right now my VPN folks log on to another server for their access. Well that is why I am asking what are the max number of ports i can have on an NT box?

For NT4 Server, the maximum is 256 ports as far as I know, so I guess you have a different problem.
Have you reapplied SP6a after installing RAS ?
