master page "off page" objects 1

Hello everybody, in Quark Xpress you can place items off the page boundaries on the master page and still have them appear on your actual pages when their master is applied.
In Pagemaker you could not do this, and it appears that is also the case with Indesign. Can someone please confirm this.

Example: adding trim marks to an Indesign master page that are off the page will not appear when that master page is applied to the document. Is there a way to overcome this ?

Hi Fran1942,
go to File>Document Setup click on more options in the Slug area put in say 5mm (or what ever distance away the obect is)

Then Taa Daaaa...
