In Master Pages, I know that it's possible to number pages automatically starting from other than the default of page 1. For instance, a document can have a Master Page setup that starts from page 255. How is this done?

I think the best way to achieve this is to create a text box with a placeholder for the page number (Command+3 on Mac, Ctrl+3 on PC) on the master page. You'll see something like <#>.

Then, in the document itself, go to the page you want to start your new numbering from, and go to Page > Section... The dialog box that appears gives you a few options. Click Section Start to tell Quark that this is the beginning of a new section, and in the Number field, type in the page number you want to start from.

There are other options here too, like using Roman numerals or adding a prefix to the page numbers. Hope this helps!

blueark,

Thanks, It sounds like it'll work...I'll give it a try soon.

how do you put a series of number starting from 1-1000 on spearate pages. Automated page numbering

Killa22, take another look at blueark's response. It pretty much gives you a step-by-step for automatic page numbering.

If, on the other hand, you need to automatically number a list, that's a different problem and you should start a new question for it.
