I have a masterpage which contain controls on it. I altered one of the controls to add a label. That label will not show up on my master page (and thus not on the pages inheriting from the master either). Is there something special I need to do to make the master page update the contents of the control in question?

thats strange, how exactly are you adding this label???

Boy, am I embarrassed. Your question made me dig to find the answer. I had typed the code into the ascx page and left out the runat parameter. So now I have that showing up, but have a different problem. How do I reference that control from new page which inherits the master. That label is a title header to indicate what is one my current page so I must alter it each time I load a new page that inherits the master page. Do I have to use FindControl? I can't seem to locate it using intellisense.

Thanks for your first response!!

yes,

each child page has a property called MasterPage or something like that (dont remember the exact name).

that property has a FindControl method using which you can locate the lable control...
