Hi,

I have a W2000 Adv Server envirement consisting of a dc, assistant dc and several member servers. We are constantly getting the following messages in the servers event viewer:

The browser has recieved a server announcement indicating that the computer "" is a master browser, but this computer is not a master browser.

and

The browser was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master "" on the network.

Your assistance in helping me straighten this out is greatly appreciated. This has been causing havic on the network for a while.

Thanks,

Tony

In this message you may view PC'netbios name which conflicted with your server. You must disable Master Browser functioning on it:
for example, if OS is W2k, then HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters. The value data for MaintainServerList should be NO.

Should I also set the MaintainServerList on all the servers to NO to?"

One thing I forgot to mention is that on my primary dc, I have multiple transports running.

One server in network must have MaintainServerList=Yes.
DC have MaintainServerList=Yes by default.
