Mass Call Forwarding

Well, there's a lot of smart people with a lot of smart/cool ideas on this forum, so let's see if someone has done this before or has some thoughts on how to accomplish it........

We have a CM 6.0. We use 1616 H323 phones. We have several remote offices that house anywhere from 10-100 people. The remotes are connected to our headquarters via MPLS (private network) so the phones are plugged directly in to the local network. We have NO PBX equipment in the remote offices, only phones.

On occasion, the MPLS goes down, takes a hit, the remote office has to clear out for some reason. When this happens, we need to forward the phones in the remote office to a backup location. For 10 phones, not a big deal, for 100 phones, big deal.

We have been trying to figure out a way to automate the process some how. Call coverage wouldn't work since we already have call coverage in place for other uses on these phones. EC500 probably wouldn't work since we would still have to manually activate it.

Has anybody ever tried to script the forwarding of numerous phones in CM? Maybe via Telnet scripting?

If all of the phones were in their own unique COR, you could termination restrict the entire COR with one feature access code. This should send the calls to their, (tenant), attendant if configured that way. If their attendant was in night service, the calls would be re-directed to that destination.

I think this would work, although the entire group(s) would have the same redirection.
