Dear all:
We have a machine running Win2000 Server OS, where we also run DHCP and our finance system MAS200 on it.
Recently many users received error message from MAS200 saying "Connection Time-Out" on their client machines. All client machines can access local share folders on Win2K Server and access internet.
After Win2000 Server reboot, Connection Time-Out problem disappeared. Users can also wait for a period of time (depends, sometimes 5 minutes sometimes 30 minutes) to log on without connection error. Sometimes client machine reboot will fix the problem but not always, but Server reboot tends to fix the problem always.
So, what is happening? I eliminate the problem from client machine (due to limited budget, our small office is using XP Home (I know..I know..), therefore I once was suspecting XP Home Edition not compatible with our finance system software.
Has anyone have similar experience? Having an application running on a server and client machine would receive Time-Out error message?
Could it possibly be a bandwidth problem (current Server NIC is 10/100Mbps LAN and usually there can be up to 20 concurrent connection to the MAS200 finance application)? Or simply Network card on the server is defective? Windows 2000 OS DHCP needs to refresh? Or it is a router's problem (DLink router 10/100Mbps)? Or Server's CPU problem..?
