Hello,
Yesterday I was asked to take a standalone laptop with 2000 professional and install an application that required a drive letter mapped, let's call it S: to a set of folders on the local c: drive, mimicking a network drive. I set it to share ok, but when I went into the map drive tool, neither the machine or the share were appearing.
I then connected the patch cable to the network and tried it again and this time it worked. The problem is that the S: drive needs to be available even when the laptop is not connected to the network.
In networking I saw a connection definition for a dialup adapter and the local ethernet adapter. I also saw some info about a domain account tied to the ethernet adapter.
Does this laptop maybe require that it be connected to the network for all of the sharing features to work properly? Is the dialup adapter which has an address of 0.0.0.0 causing any problems?
Thanks,
Hallux
