I'm developing an ASAI application and I've run into some problems I can't figure out. I'm hoping someone more experienced than I can tell me what's going on.

I've been developing this app for about a month.
Recently (the past week or so,) the MAPD has started taking down the ASAI link every 15 minutes, 8 seconds. The reason it gives is Virtual BRI port busied-out or not administered. Six seconds later it reports the link is down because DEFINITY ECS has taken layer 2 down. Immediately after that, it reports that the link is back up. The system log from the MAPD looks like this:

02:00:29 FYI brsdrv.2 10.1.1.214/2153 Bri2 Link1 NOT_CONNECTED
02:00:34 FYI brsdrv.2 10.1.1.214/2153 Bri2 Link1 CONNECTED_DOWN
02:00:34 FYI brsdrv.2 10.1.1.214/2153 Bri2 Link1 CONNECTED
02:15:36 FYI brsdrv.2 10.1.1.214/2153 Bri2 Link1 NOT_CONNECTED
02:15:41 FYI brsdrv.2 10.1.1.214/2153 Bri2 Link1 CONNECTED_DOWN
02:15:41 FYI brsdrv.2 10.1.1.214/2153 Bri2 Link1 CONNECTED
02:30:43 FYI brsdrv.2 10.1.1.214/2153 Bri2 Link1 NOT_CONNECTED
.
.
.

It happens at all hours of the day, every 15.8 minutes, whether the switch is in use or not. I'm sure this is caused by something I'm doing or not doing, but I don't uderstand the ASAI protocol well enough to know what I am missing.

On a possibly related note, the MAPD reboots every few days since I've been running the latest incarnation of the application. I don't know why.

13:08:45 07/20/02 system boot
05:22:14 08/23/02 system boot
18:34:46 08/24/02 system boot
19:24:21 08/24/02 system boot
19:26:11 08/24/02 system boot
16:36:28 08/28/02 system boot

Other than these two problems, everything works. The application collects ANI and DTMF information and routes calls just like it's supposed to.

Can anyone suggest a possible solution, or something I can do to further troubleshoot the problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

JRL

Network problem perhaps...

The 10.1.1.214 I take it is an ip address of your application server PC?

Is there a hub or switch between your application and the MAPD? If so, try a direct cross-over cable between the MAPD and the Application server and see if that eliminates the problem.

Also, the ASAI port you set up on the Definity. Is there a test option on the station form you set up that has maintenance test = to yes. Set it to no.

Also is there a gateway or default gateway option set in the MAPD that does not need to be there or is not on the network.

It has been a while since I was in a MAPD.

Also look at the CV/LAN Utilities Screen for the Node ID, Timeout, and Action.

Has this changed?

Timeout is The maximum amount of time in seconds you are willing to wait for the DEFINITY ECS to respond to the
activate/deactivate request.

Have you altered you application to activate/deactivate requests?

Also what action is present. I think this is read only.

More information on the MAPD circuit pack can be found at support.avaya.com under online services, documentation, recent docs. look under Call Center/CRM Solutions and CallVisor ASAI (any release)

There are PDF downloadable manuals there that can help you further.
