How do you configure DNS to allow two canonical names each resolving to a different IP address on the same IIS box?

I have two sites on a server and want internal users only to be able to connect by typing

intranet.domainname.co.uk
cww.domainname.co.uk

I have put 2 A records one for each address and have tried to put CNAME records to IP addresses but that don't seem to work.

You can set up multiple DNS records like you have done, but then you need to go into your Internet Services Manager and specify which domain name goes to which IP address. This is done through the use of host headers.

Under properties for the website (under the 'website' tab), click on the "advanced" button next to IP address. There, you can setup your host header. This will allow multiple names to go to the same address, but bring up different websites.

Also, a note for troubleshooting with host headers activated. You will no longer be able to go to your site by ip address...only by name. Just a note for future troubleshooting.
