I upgraded exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003 with not too many dramas.
Once I moved all the mailboxes and public folders and made the change on the firewall to the new server the NT4 exchange 5.5 disk failed (it must of known it's time was up).

Now I want to remove it from the servers list in the system manager is there a manual way to do this as obviously the servers can no longer see each other?

Thanks
Gary

Thanks for the reply

I am running adsiedit but this just looks like 'users and computers'

Sorry if I am missing something but how do I remove the server from system manager?

Gary

I don't have access to an AD with Exchange to walk you through this but you need to connect to the configuration database for starters. You will then drill down to Exchange (I believe it is under services) and under there you should find the old server name to delete.

I hope you find this post helpful.

I am really unsure of where you mean, if you happen to get access and can advise of where it needs to be removed it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

1. Start -> Run -> C:\Program Files\Support Tools -> adsiedit.msc
2. When prompted connect to the configuration database
3. Expand CN=Configuration,DC=example,DC=com, expand CN=Services, expand CN=Microsoft Exchange
4. Expand CN=OrganizationName (where OrganizationName is the name of your Exchange organization).
5. Expand Administrative Groups (if administrative groups are enabled), expand your servers current administrative group (for example, expand CN=First Administrative Group)
6. Expand CN=Servers
7. Right click on your old server and select Delete

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
