I have three private queues that appear to be completely locked out from all access, including Administrator. I see "Access is denied" when viewing the queues in MMC.

This is the result of a botched uninstallation. The queues were installed by a 3rd-party installer (don't know; didn't run it). The queues are part of a .NET Windows service app. The EXE contains MessageQueueInstallers in order to create the queues when used with installutil.exe. I ran installutil.exe /u [my.exe] to uninstall the service, but it couldn't remove the queues (no problem, I only wanted to uninstall the service). After rebooting the server, the queues were locked out. None of this ever happened when using installutil.exe alone.

I'd like to remove the queues manually (something like manually removing a service), but I can't find anything that looks like my queues in the registry or file system.

Any ideas?

Tis an intersting problem. Perhaps using Hijackthis may help. It is more of a tool to remove spyware/malware programs but the way it works may be suited in your case to get rid of your problem.
