Making clips in Premiere Pro

In the "old" Adobe Premiere 6.0/6.6, you were able to make clips out of a large media-file. Just by using clip-markers, Premiere auto-generated new clips (xxxxxx.avi.001, xxxxxx.avi.002.....). But I cant seem to find this option in the new Premiere Pro.

Do you....?

Have you tried setting in/out points in the source window and then dragging back into the project window?

You'll have to do your own renaming, though.

Well, that worked, but not as smooth as in the 6.5. But I wonder if there are any tricks out there, that would make it easier to make small clips out of a large media-file....

Anyone?

I don't have pro 7 yet - but from the reviews I've read one of the new features is "Scene Detection" which is supposed to capture a large video into small clips automatically making clips out of single scenes. I have no idea how this works - but a search of the help files for -"Scene Detection" might help.

It remains much better to use Scenalyzer Live for clip extraction during capture. PPro rewinds for each clip, whilst Scenalyzer dissects the incoming stream on the fly. Scenalyzer is not only much faster, but also generates much less wear and tear on replay equipment. Scenalyzer also includes stop motion and timelapse capture, which are both missing from PPro.
