Hi there,

Merry Christmas!

I have a simple query which is using the criteria in the design view to search the surname...

Criteria: [Please enter a surname]

This is great when there is data to return but when there is nothing it doesn't look great so is there a way to create a message which says..."No data matching your criteria...please search again"

Cheers and many thanks in advance.

How are you showing the query to the user?

In a form, or a subform, a report, a drop down list, a control, or just a query/table view?

It is easy enough with all except the query view.

My suggestion makes me feel a little Grinchish faq701-6763.

As per SeeThru's reply, the context of the query is very important to any answer.

Yes it is control sourced to a form

Many thanks
