Hi,
I own 2 domain names... not sure if thats relevant to know or what.
We are running our own website of our own server using coldfusion.
We are looking into making a mail server from the 2 domain names.
We use dynalias.com to point to our server, this works well. (apart from where the images load a little bit after tha page loads so you have to refresh any ideas)
Anyway its CF server on APACHE.
I want to make it manage email address's @ that address.
I.e noel@domainiown.com i want to be able to make and manage these emails
How/is it possible? What do i need i have a budget which i will not divulge here but lets say CF isnt cheap!

im not sure i understand what you are trying to do, are you saying you want CF to manage a mail server?

sounds like you need a mailserver to handle mail for 2 domains, the cost is dependant on what platform you are on. Some server OS's have built-in mail servers that only need to be configured (and you would need MX records and dynalias.com)

if you elaborate a little more on what role you see CF playing in all of this i'll try to help you more.

:S! well i generally want a mail server so we can have emails off that i thought you needed CF to do it after seeing there being a sectoin in it.
Can you guide me though how to do it with something else
i looked at worldclient MDeamon looked pretty cool to me and we dont need that many users

The way web design should be

Having a mail server involves a whole lot more than just having a web server. Depending on what you want to do, you may be talking about getting into some serious networking, and some serious cash. If you only have a few users and you're not wanting to dump much money into hardware and software, you may want to look into having someone else host your mail. But if you still want to check into getting your own server, you may be better off to look at one of these forums for information.

Hope This Helps!

Hummm i like the look of MDEAMON (had success with it before, just i never managed it just used a address on it)
If i were to go on linux would i be better off?
Are there no freeware mail server?

If you want to set up a mail server, check out Windows Server 2003. It now comes with POP mail as well as SMTP built in. Very simple to use and you can manage multiple domains.
