Hello, been trying to make a second server and clone sql server and the db's on the machine

I have installed sql server and been trying to move the db's to the new machine but have problems with users and security issues...

I backup the db I want, and then make the login I need on new machine, then restore, but still having problems with security..

is there and docs on how to do this correctly or point me in the way...

Thanxs

Your problem is most likely that your database user's sids don't match the logins sids, that is, the sysusers.sid <> sysxlogins.sid.

Drop and re-add your database users after you've created the logins and all will be well..

BTW.. this is a good reason to use NT Authentication, because this isn't an issue unless you are restoring a database in another, non-trusted domain... Tom Davis
