Major issue with "design mode" - Please Help

I have got a problem with my dreamweaver 2004 program & was wondering if someone could help me here. Basically I've been designing my site & everything was going fine until for no real reason (that I know of) everything in my viewable (editable/design mode) area has disappeared. I can't view anything on my pages except for some pics & links at very top bottom of the page, however when I locally publish the page everything looks fine. So I can't edit my site anymore using the WYSIWYG (design mode) editor because I can't see what I am doing. If anyone knows what could have happened I would really appreciate a fix.

hardly a disaster. more of a bonus to my way of thinking. use code view, write code instead of the bloated stuff that design view produces.
