My hand hit something on my keyboard while I was working on a form and now my whole database shoots to the right of my screen when I open it. Imagine this, I hit f11 to unhide the database window and it does not show up but there is scroll bar on the bottom of the screen and when I drag the bar to the left it shoots back to the right! It only affects this mdb file, not others. If I make a new database and import EVERYTHING it works. The problem is, that does not solve my problem because I was making some changes and I need to be able to sort my recently modified forms so I know what I changed. When I do the import everything has the same modified date.
So I need to get this problem solved!

Any help?

Can't you drag the DB window by clicking and holding on the title bar of it? Drag it to the left side of the wqindow and use FILE > EXIT
your new setting will be saved.

No, if I drag to the left the window does not show up and when I release the mouse button it shoots back over to the right!

Naturally, I cannot click file exit with my finger on the button. It is a major pain and I have never seen anything like this.

have you tried compact and repair, there may be something corrupted in the database ?

yes, compact and repair did nothing...

Once you said you can't access the File menu. then you said compact didn't work. How did you access compact menu when the menu was not accessible?

hi

how big is the database ? You can send it to me if you like and i will look at it..intrigued myself as to what as caused problem ? If so i will give email address for you to send to

Keun,
Zameer answered your problem. Hold down the shift key while opening the database to ensure that all start up macros are bypassed. Use your scroll bar at the bottom to find the database window. Click on the title bar of the database window and move it to the desired position. Exit the data base. Next reopen the database find the form that is also to the right and open it in design view and drag the form to the desired position and close the database. This will correct the problem.

I am assuming that keun has tried that.. if you read his notes he can drag the window into "view" but as soon as he lets go the window "shoots" back to it's original position. So although he can do the file save thing the window is back in the wrong place while he does that...

Send the database to acqueries-access@yahoo.co.uk zipped up if you want me to have a look at it keun ...

This is what I read from his post:

"...there is scroll bar on the bottom of the screen and when I drag the bar to the left it shoots back to the right!"

I assumed he was using the scroll bar not the title bar of the database window.

I sent the mdb to BuilderSpec. For what it is worth, I went ahead and did the import so this busted file is not in need of repair - however, I would still like to know what is going on because I have never seen this.

keun,I too interested to see the DB... let BuilderSpec see it first
BuilderSpec, Hope you will post your findings..

Hi

Open the database .. if like main the main form should be in the center of the screen.

Hit F11 to open the database window.. and then you get the scroll bar thing happening that looks like it's 10 miles in one direction !

Open the window menu , choose "Cascade", this will pull database window back on screen.

Exit the database ...

Go back in and it should be sorted

Let us know if that worked ..

as to what you did in the first place...god only knows!

Regards

Yes, that worked. Thanks a lot. As you say, I have absolutley no idea what I did but I am glad you fixed it for me!

Thanks for the time.
