Hello
Our security department is asking if we can check the contents of a mailbox with out the owner knowing it. It is a Norstar voicemail system with a regular MICS 3.0. Any way possible? Thanks

only if you have the mailbox's password. I do not know if the WAV files in OS2 aare encrypted though so getting the files direct might be a possibility.

If you don’t know the password, the system admin can default it to 4 zero's and listen to the messages, but the mbx owner would know that you did it because you would not be able to change it back to whatever password he was using.

So, the answer is no...not without the owner knowing. Unless you could be sneaky, like telling him his mbx is locked because someone tried to hack into it. Of course, if he is suspicious, he probably wont buy that explanation, and would suspect that you have listened to his messages.

also if you listen to any message then it moves to the saved messages box without an option to get it back to the new message file.

you could be a little more sneaky and reset all the passwords over the weekend that way everybody has to re assign their pwd & blame the messages being moved from new mess to saved on the power outage.

Borderline illegal............Without employment letters of acknowledgment knowing recording and voicemail opening may be intended.
