One of our Win2K servers is our mail server, running Active Directory and MS Exchange.

One of our users (sales, on the road) asked if he could have his internal mail routed to his personal account. Say, hisacct@hotmail.com for purposes of this message, but actually its thru his own isp (shouldnt' matter tho, should it?).

How would this be done using MS Exchange?? I'd like to set him up so that any mail delivered to his mailbox here (on Exchange) gets forwarded or just passed through to his personal account.

Any help would be appreciated! If I need to include more info, just ask and I'll give you what I can (know).

Thanks.

For E2K, go into AD Users and Computers on the Exchange server. Make sure you have the View set to Advanced. Go to any OU and create a new Contact. Assign the Contact the SMTP address of your user's external email account. Then, Open the properties of your user's account, go to the Exchange General tab, then Delivery Options, and under the Forward To section, add in the Contact you just created.

Thanks for the reply!

guess I forgot to mention the version. We're running Exchange 5.5 and didn't see where to assign the smtp for the new contact I created.

Nor did I find a forward to delivery option of the user.

Sorry for being so confused, I'm only doing this because our IT guy is gone now.

Thanks!

For 5.5, create a new Custom Recipient from the File Menu in Exchange Admin. Assign this Custom Recipient the SMTP address you need. Then open the users mailbox object and go to the Delivery Options tab and forward to the Custom Recipient you just created.
