My ISP is having some trouble with its POP servers, they are running very slowly, but they are working. Using a telnet session I can establish a connection to the server and list the mail, but using the Mac OS X mail client it keeps asking me to reenter the password. I've only seen this behaviour before when it was actually a timeout problem. Is there a way to increase the timeout setting for the POP mail as I've not been able to find one in any of the places that I thought was obvious.

Cheers,
Bran.

Well I couldn't find a timeout setting and no-one on any forums managed to provided an answer. However changing the POP3 password at the ISP and then entering this password worked. So I guess that the mail program is capable of having a corrupt password and not resetting when the same one is re-entered.
