Can a public folder be used as a recipient for a mail group?

For instance, instead of the mail going to each member of a distribution group, can it be delivered to one place (a public folder) and then be read by the members of the group.

Anyone any thoughts on this ?

sure, why not? Public Folders can have SMTP addresses just like anything else...
