mail hyperlinks use Outlook Express even when Outlook 2000 is default

Whenever I click a mail link Outlook Express opens instead of Outlook 2000. This happens in all programs that contain mail links. I have set outlook 2000 as the default mail client but this still happens! Is there an easy fix for this I am missing?

You will have to correct file association for URL: Mailto file type. Depending on what OS you are using it may be a little different but open your windows Explorer and then click on TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS. Select the FILE TYPES tab and then loof or the file association. Select ADVANCED and then select the OPEN action and click on EDIT.
