I have been using my laptop with Outlook 2003 installed. I need to somehow import the Inbox & Sent Items messages into Outlook 2000, which I use on my usual PC.

Is this possible? I've tried it by copying the .pst file to my PC and then File => Import and Export (in Outlook 2000), but I get an error message.

One way is to forward all the 2003 messages to myself, but they'll all show up as coming from me. The other is to install Office 2003 on my PC. But I would just find it more convenient to import the messages if I can. Any ideas?

Try this:

In Outlook 2003, choose the File ... New ... Outlook Data File menu option.
Create a new file, choosing the Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File option.
Save this file with a suitable file name, e.g. InboxTransfer.pst. It should appear in Outlook 2003, in the Navigation pane.

You can now copy an existing folder, e.g. Inbox, and paste it into the new 'Personal Folders' folder.
Copy the InboxTransfer.pst file to your Outlook 2000 PC. Outlook 2000 should be able to open and work with this file, as it was created in the older file format compatible with all versions of Outlook from 97 onwards.

Hi, Bob, and thanks. I haven't had time to look into this yet but, as soon as I do, I'll let you know how I get on...
