I'm looking to purchase Macromedia's Studio MX (not 2004)software for my son to use for homework. I realize this is an older version, but the school system has not updated their software. I would use 2004 version but he does not have a pentium III 600MHz machine. I'm stuck. Can anyone suggest a way for us to get this software?

Buy an educational version on eBay - this is a legitimate educational use. A used copy will pop up every so often. If you need it immediately you might want to try contacting Macromedia directly.
The speed of the processor isn't as important as having sufficient RAM. Try to get at least 128 meg installed in the machine - it is pretty cheap at this point.
