Just got this machine back up and running on 9.2.2 (with option to boot to OSX) after the original install of 8.6 crapped out b/c of filesystem errors.

Installed Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, ATM 4.02, Quark, and Word. Now when in Quark or Word, whenever certain fonts are used (so far Arial Narrow and Century School Book Italic) it appears as if Font smoothing/anti aliasing is turned off. In addition to that display problem, Arial Narrow is displayed as a bold variant, and Century Schoolbook Italic is displayed as Bold Italic.

So far, I've printed test files to hardcopy and to EPS/PDF to check to see if it is something with a printer driver, but both hardcopy and PDF output are normal (displaying fonts properly).

In addition, Word 98 seems to be having the same problem with those two fonts - they're displaying incorrectly, but printing fine.

I would upgrade the ATM to 4.6, with OS being the lastist one now. You should be able to get a copy of ATM light from adobes wedsite.

Have you rebuilt the desktop?

If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.
