First off let me say I know nothing about Macs but have extensive NT knowledge and that this is a problem I inherited from my predecessor.
On the NT network all pc's run win98 and connect to our Exchange server using Outlook, all can send end receive internal & external e-mail. The Mac runs Outlook Express for some reason, can send and recieve internal mail, can receive external e-mail but cannot send it. External mail produces and error message "Relaying is Prohibited. Receipient not recognised."
Apparently changes were made to the Exchange set up sometime ago to prevent spammers using it to relay their mail - and that's when the Mac problems started. Within Exchange Admin, the Routing Restrictions are set to "Hosts and clients with these addresses" and the IP address of the Mac is entered, as is the subnet mask.
My guess is the problem lies in this area - could anyone confirm and suggest a resolution. Also, should I upgrade the Mac to Outlook?
Thanks in anticipation
