Greetings All,

Is the firmware version of an M3900 set tied to the RLS of the set?

If so, what firmware versions translates to the various RLS's?

If not, how do you determine the RLS of a set?

Thanks for any assistance on this.

Thanks for the reply, MossEng.

I know how to determine the firmware of a set. I'm trying to find out if and/or how the firmware version relates to the RLS of the set.

I did find a document that states firmware lower than 4.0 is a RLS 1. Equal to or higher than 4.0 is a RLS 2. I can't find any info more recent.

Because its possible to update the Firmware from the system, there is no way to be certain of a correlation between Rls and Firmware.

I have some details on this below that might help you?.

M3903 version 9.0

See Nortel Technical Bulletin 2009009684, Rev 2 for full details

-----------------------------------------------------
Important Note for upgrades to CS1000 rls 6
-----------------------------------------------------
It is recommended for all CS1000 customers upgrading to rls 6.0 to have their M3900 sets upgraded to the latest firmware version prior to the core upgrade. Failing to do so will cause problems with M3900 sets during Transfer call scenarios.
A fix for CR (Q01805423-01: 390x during a transfer call have no 'Conf' softkey) was introduced, this fix
contains changes in both core and Taurus firmware, if CS1000 system is upgraded to rls 6.0 without upgrading M3900 sets then during the transfer scenario, after the second leg of the call is answered the connect key will not appear.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

M3900 sets were also released in "Phase 1", "Phase 2" and "Phase 3" versions, also applying to the hardware. An example I had was the full-duplex speakerphone adapter could only work on a certain Phase phone (3 maybe?); the module had a physical feature that would prevent it from being inserted in the rear of Phase 1 (and maybe 2) hardware.

I know this is a bit old, but along the same lines.

I have a Succession 4.5 1000M.

Current Firmware for M3904 is 89

I have the Loadware for "3904DA93.LW" 9.3 as well as "3904da94.lw" 9.4. Per "Firebird Scrambler"'s post 9.3 should work just fine. Is it worth trying/possible to do 9.4?

I plan on using
"• -lwload <loadware patch filename(s)>
— loads one or more loadware patches on the switch.
• -lwinst <loadware patch number(s)>
— rebuilds psdl.rec to include new loadware
-lwout <loadware patch number(s)>
— removes one or more loadware patches from the switch
• -lwstat <loadware patch number(s)>
— displays status of loadware patches on switch
— if no patch numbers given, displays all patches
The loadware patches must be located in the /u/loadware directory. Below is
the example of loadware patching."

The filename example is "pdt> lwload ger1ba50.p"

Question Summary:

Go with 9.3 or 9.4?
Do my Firmware file names look ok? (got them second hand, wish I still have ESPL access!)
PDT firmware upgrade normal?

Thank you,
e
