Have any of you Tek-tipsters out there have any tricks that will allow the removal of a tape from a SDLT 320 drive once the drive is removed from an M2500 jukebox?

The drive has a tape stuck inside and Quantum provides only "Contact support" as a resolution to removing the drive.
I've attempted to remove the drive myself, however, once the drive is removed it is disconnnected from modular power on the Jukebox. Just wondering if anyone else was having a similar problem and had any experience with such a device. The is definitely a design flaw because the manufacturer did not provide a power connector on the back of the drive in the event this problem occurred. To call for service on this type of problem is compared to calling the electric company when your lights got otu. From what I can tell, this is definitely a design flaw.

Any comments or suggestions may help.

Yes, the SDLT drives are removed from power when you take
them out. If you can figure out how many volts it needs
you may be able to find a power supply (PC power supply?)
to hook it up too.

If reaching in the library and hitting the unload button
doesn't free the tape just having the drive out of the
library with power will not unload it either.

When opening up the SDLT drives to free a tape the techs
usually use a 9volt battery on applied to one of the
motors.

Some drives offer a reset mode if you hold the eject button in. We have some LTO-2 drives which occasionaly get tapes stuck in them and pressing eject doesnt work but if you press and hold it for 10-15 seconds it resets the tape and more often than not it ejects.

Give it a go, it'll only cost you 10-15 seconds!
